About

Ella

Hi, I'm Ella Arze, a Lebanese-American artist who makes small-batch, mixed media creations and unique designs 🎨 I've tried and tried but can't seem to pick a niche, and simply just love to make all things pretty. Whether it's paint, clay, resin, wood, canvas, glitter, live flowers, beads, random up-cycled materials...you name it, I use it!

Arze

Arze comes from أرز لبناني (ʾarz lubnāniyy) meaning Lebanese Cedar tree. It is the national emblem of Lebanon, proudly displayed on the country's flag.

The Cedar of Lebanon represents resilience and endurance, which are qualities that have been crucial for the Lebanese throughout history.

Arze is one of the names given to me by my first-generation immigrant Lebanese father. His family is from Miziara, a town located up north in the mountains of Lebanon's Zgharta District.

As a kid, I always found it funny—and a bit unbalanced—that my older sibling was given the name يا قمر (amar) which translates to "moon" while I was named "tree." But as a grew up, I came to love my name. I love trees. I love the smell of cedar. I love Lebanon. I'm proud of my background, and I'm proud to embody the qualities of the cedar tree—resilient, strong, alive, and beloved.

Studios

I primarily create in the living room of my apartment in Seattle, WA, but often take my craft supplies on-the-go to make art at my friends' places or out in nature. One day I hope to have an "actual" studio, but for now I'm just thankful to have enough space in my home to find joy in crafting.
